Before getting started with us, you’ll attend an induction day at Empower Head Office where you get to meet the team, as well as your new grad peers. They will show you the ropes, including processes and documentation. The shadowing sessions can occur for as long as you feel confident to start taking your own caseload!

Graduate GROWTH plan

A GROWTH plan is an agreed plan between you and your mentor to identify your goals and opportunities you can participate in that will help you achieve these goals. It is reviewed regularly to help you stay on track.

It’s important start with the end in mind! The Graduate GROWTH plan is how we ensure all grads work to achieve their goals. GROWTH stands for:

GOAL
Smart Goals

REALITY
What is currently happening/what are you currently doing

OPTIONS
Brainstorm all things you could do to move towards your goal

WHAT WILL YOU DO
Evaluate your options and decide which ones you will action

TACTICS
How and when will you use these actions

HABIT
How will you sustain success once you achieve the goal

Can you tell me more about the second year pathway programs?

This development program is unique to Empower and provides you with an opportunity to choose your development route whether it is mentoring, business operations or advanced clinical skills. It is a valuable chance for you to delve into a particular area of interest within the support of the Graduate Program structure,

What services do Empower deliver?

We deliver Allied Health services to senior Australians and people with disabilities (15 years and older) in their homes, communities and Residential Aged Care facilities.

How is the supervision/mentor program run?

Our supervision and mentoring structures differ for each discipline. However, new graduates receive weekly supervision/mentoring to begin and this gradually reduces to fortnightly towards the last 2-3 months of the year as your confidence and skills build. This may be in individually or in pairs.

What are the workload expectations and how do they change with experience?

Workload for new graduates is based on a gradual building of your capacity and referrals are allocated in a way that is paced and considered. This means that you are supported to reach a full workload from month 6 onwards.

OTs have a clearly defined scope of practice, so you will only be allocated work that is appropriate for a new graduate and will be supported to slowly build on the complexity of the work. Each clinical area caseload varies and we are happy to chat about this with you further.

Monthly review meetings are held with the team leader to measure and support you working towards your goals and KPI's. Clinicians are supported to work in a balanced way that reflects our goals for quality, growth and engagement.
