What is CHSP?

The Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) helps older Australians access entry-level support services to live independently and safely at home.

To make sure you can access the help you need at an affordable price, the Commonwealth Government subsidises a variety of organisations across Australia such as Empower Healthcare in Western Australia.

Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)

To qualify, you need to meet the following criteria

  • Struggling with daily activities and in need of assistance.
  • Aged 65 or older (or 50 or older for First Nations people).
  • Aged 50 or older (or 45 or older for First Nations people) and experiencing low income, homelessness, or the risk of becoming homeless.

How much are CHSP services?

If you are eligible for the Commonwealth Home Support Programme, this funding will help you to cover the cost of Allied Health Services provided by Empower Healthcare including:

  • Dietetics
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Physiotherapy
  • Speech Pathology

Cost of the Commonwealth Home Support Programme?

A small fee or client contribution is typically required, based on your household income. However, if you are assessed as unable to pay, you will not be denied services or have them discontinued.
